Herring Bites recipe
Ingredients:
- Lettuce (or any type of leafy greens)
- Smoked herring slices (diced)
- Red onion (thinly sliced)
- Lemon (thinly sliced)
- Olive oil
- White vinegar
- Salt and black pepper
Instructions:
- Wash the lettuce and cut it into small leaves.
- In a bowl, whisk together the olive oil, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper.
- Add the lettuce leaves to the bowl and toss until coated.
- Distribute the smoked herring slices over the lettuce leaves.
- Add the onion and lemon slices.
- Serve with toasted bread or pita bread.
Additional notes:
For a richer flavor, you can marinate the smoked herring in a mixture of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and herbs for 30 minutes before adding it to the salad.
If you don’t like red onion, you can substitute it with another type of onion, such as white onion or green onion.
You can also add other vegetables to the salad, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, or bell peppers.
For a more filling salad, you can add cooked quinoa or rice.
